Landmarks Preservation Commission, Town of Palm Beach
I am a resident of the Town of Palm Beach writing to comment on the fountain placed in front of 284 Monterey Road during its recent renovation.
This residence is a small Bermuda style home. The large bulky fountain newly installed in the front does not fit architecturally with this charming landmarked structure. The effect is jarring.
I am hopeful that the Landmarks Preservation Commission will conclude that this fountain should be removed.
Thank you for your work for Palm Beach.

    To Landmarks Commissioners,
    > My husband Ken Franklin and I have owned a home at for 10 years at 1105 North Lake Way directly across from the land marked property at 284 Monterey Road. The former owner of 284 Monterey Road cherished the charming yellow bungalow and chose to landmark it to preserve its character, reflective of the rapidly vanishing charm of the North End. While the reconstruction of the house by new owners has updated the house and achieved a generally commendable job of landscaping, we find the new installed fountain to be a discordant brutalist element more suited to the scale and character of a commercial building rather than a charming landmarked North End bungalow. We urge the Landmarks Commission to require the installation of a fountain more in keeping with the character of the property. We thank you for your consideration.
    Sincerely,
    Carol L Franklin
