Dear Town Council Members, Mayor Moore and staff,
Please see our response below from July 31 to revisions for the 240 Park Ave proposed project which is on the agenda for the August 12 meeting. In addition to these multiple requests for more open green-space, we are awaiting confirmation that Council will be re-designating this as an official park and accept that classification in perpetuity. Then I believe normal park restrictions on any private use will apply. We have asked but have not yet received confirmation from the donors attorneys confirming that the anonymous donor has no intention of private use. This should be an easy question to answer and subsequently added to the conditions of use if needed. Unfortunately if the donor and their legal team cannot abide by this simple requirement in regards to town parks, there must be an ulterior motive behind the project. It certainly is puzzling that there are 2 paths in the rear of the revised park renderings that don't currently exist. They would be accessing the rear alley way of the Palm Beach Hotel/Condominium which is not recommended for public use, just maintenance and staff.
Thank you once again for all your hard work!

Hello Maura and Design Group,
Thank you for removal of the original, preserved, town chartered park at 247 Park Ave from the proposed renovation plans. It is a welcome and peaceful park with open green-space that is well kept by our town landscapers and residents for over 100 years.
In regards to the south park at 240 Park Ave, the newly revised design plans are virtually the same as the previous design with the exception of fountain removal and path width reduction from 6' to 3'. Once again we are in opposition to wall construction and dense landscaping blocking clear view and wide open access from our street.
We as a group were also in opposition to paved pathways instead of permeable, softer walkways, if even needed, and in opposition to hidden pocket benches instead of open, clearly viewable benches that exist currently. Of course some added landscaping around the borders of the park where needed are certainly welcome.
Hoping you don't find this redundant, but we thought that the preservation of open, safe, peaceful green space is what we all desired and is what is preferred by the residents of our street and town.
All the best,
Patrick & Lisa McGowan
