Re: Re: Proposed Cultural Institution Zoning District
The Board of the Citizens' Association of Palm Beach has reviewed the concept of a new zoning district for the Town's cultural institutions, as proposed by the Society of the Four Arts, and we support the proposed new zoning category.
In our Board's view, it is inappropriate to have cultural institutions such as the Four Arts and the Flagler Museum in the R-B single-family residential zoning district. Both inst1itutlons far pre-date the existence of the zoning code and both are clearly Town-Serving institutions.
The creation of the Cultural Institution zoning district will foreclose the opportunity for homeowners in the R-B zoning district to attempt to avail themselves of any greater development capacity that the Town might have granted to the Four Arts or the Flagler Museum through special exceptions or variances.
We appreciate the proactive approach that the Town is taking to making our zoning code meet our current and future needs.
We encourage your strong support of the Four Arts' proposal.
Thank you for your consideration of our opinion.
On behalf of the Board of Directors.
Respectfully,
Donald Singer - Co-Chair CAPB
