    Dear Members of ARCOM:
We reside at the ocean corner of North Ocean Way and North Ocean Blvd and wish to express our support for the application of our neighbors, Pete and Erin Sayer, for approval before ARCOM.
We walk Onondaga Avenue on a daily basis and the Sayer fence now in place should be allowed to remain.
The fence in question is hardly visible from the street and on closer examination appears to be well designed and in keeping with the architectural style of the north end of Palm Beach.
Your support for the Sayer project is much appreciated by their friends and neighbors on Onondaga Avenue and in the Esplanade Estates neighborhood.
    Respectfully submitted,

RE: 220 Onondaga Fence and landscape plan
    To Whom it May Concern,
I am writing to express my conditional support for the new fence that was installed at 220
Onondaga, the property of Peter and Erin Sayer.
There has been much talk about the impact of this fence on the neighbors. I am the neighbor
most impacted as my property at 253 Esplanade is directly South of the subject property. I look
at the entire expanse of the fence line’s Southern border. I do not have any issue with the
fencing material, only the loss of privacy that has resulted.
I would like to clarify that I am in support of the new fence with the condition that my privacy is
restored. The process of installing the fence resulted in the removal of all the greenery that
screened my home, specifically my bedroom from looking onto the Sayers property and they
into mine. I would ask that the Southern border of the Sayers pool which borders the new
fence be planted out with a series of plantings approx. 8 ft tall that will provide the privacy that
was lost. These plantings should be on the Sayers property and planted at the Sayers expense.
I believe the Sayers are willing to restore my privacy once the new fence is properly permitted.
Please feel free to reach out for any clarification. Thank you for your time and consideration.
    Best Regards,
    Minnie

ENDORSEMENT OF APPLICATION OF PETE AND ERIN SAYER
Onondaga Avenue , Palm Beach, Florida 33480
    Dear Members of the Commission
As a fifty year resident of Palm Beach, I support the application of Erin and Pete Sayer before your commission in the matter of a residential fence issue.
We have lived in three houses in the north end since the1940s. My parents were business owners in Palm Beach. We walk and bicycle and are frequent visitors to Onondaga Avenue.
The North End has always been more informal that the estate section. Our small town values are reflected in more modest dwellings suited for young families. We should all work to support and protect that legacy.
Accordingly, we ask your support for the application of an outstanding young couple and their family who have made contributions to our residential neighborhood. We conclude that there is not an issue with a small section of fencing now visible.
Thank you for your consideration of our comments.
    Very truly yours.

Re: 220 Onondaga/Approval of Fence As Currently Installed
    Dear Town Council,
As the owners of the residence at 201 Onondaga Avenue, I am writing to you to support the approval of a fence as installed by our neighbor Pete and Erin Sayer of 220 Onondaga Avenue.
Pete and Erin have been long-term residents of Palm Beach and they should not be penalized for an oversight by their contractor in putting up a small PVC fence for work on their home without Town approval. The fence is barely visible from the street. Moreover, ARCOM's decision last month not to grant retroactive approval for the fence has created a dilemma for the Sayers in that the Town requires a fence when you have a pool which the Sayers do have. The Sayers should not be penalized for an honest oversight and urge the Town Council to intervene with ARCOM to allow the permitting of the fence.

    Received via email 10.10.23:
    Dear ARCOM Committee Members,
As the owners of the residence at 201 Onondaga Avenue (and prior to 2022 as owned by my mother, Elsa Messing, a 50 year resident of Palm Beach), I am writing to you to support the approval of a fence as installed by our neighbor Pete and Erin Sayer of 220 Onondaga Avenue.
Pete and Erin Sayer recently undertook work on their property which required them to erect a small PVC fence. The fence is very small and unobtrusive; very difficult to even see from the street. Unfortunately, the Sayer's contractor mistakenly informed Pete and Erin that they would not need a permit and they proceeded on the work under this assumption. It should be noted that a fence was also required for the very fact that they have a pool on their property and the Sayers cannot take it down when it was brought to their attention the lack of a permit.
We understand that the Sayers asked for a fence permit at ARCOM's meeting last month and it was denied. Accordingly, they are unjustly being assessed a continuing daily fine until approval is granted by your Committee. Given that this was an honest oversight by their contractor and that the infraction was minor and have (and are) attempting to rectify the situation, we urge the Committee to reconsider their decision and grant the Sayer a permit for the fence.
The Sayers have been long standing and respectful residents of Palm Beach. Their dog, Snoopy, is a fixture on the street, well loved by all including my mother who in the last years of her life would enjoy its company.
We unequivocally support the application for a fence permit.
    Kind regards,

I am a neighbor of the Sayers and have lived in the neighborhood for over 30 years. I walk past their house almost daily and I have no objections to their new PVC fence that was recently installed. I feel that it adds to the beauty of the street and improves the look of the area. Please permit them to keep it.
    Sincerely,

Members of the Town Council and ARCOM
RE: Support for existing fence at 220 Onondaga
I am writing in support of the existing fence at 230 Onondaga
My husband and I reside directly adjacent to the and west of the property belonging to Peter and Erin Sayer at 220 Onondaga Avenue. We share the fence-line to their west.
We understand that ARCOM recently denied the Sayers the permit they requested for the fence. ARCOM continued the matter until their October meeting. We believe that the Sayers made an honest mistake as they were advised they did not need a permit for the PVC fence.
Because the Sayers have a pool they are required to have a fence. This puts them in a double bind; they cannot take the fence down because they have a pool and yet the Town levied $250 per day fine because they lack a permit for the fence. The fine will be thousands of dollars before the Sayers have an opportunity to again appear before ARCOM.
While some ARCOM members objected to the plastic material of the fence, my own opinion is to grant them the permit as it is currently installed. What possibly can be gained by ARCOM or the Town refusing this small and insignificant request?
If the Town Council and its appointed members of ARCOM truly consider “RESIDENTS FIRST”, please heed the letters of the immediate neighbors and approve the fence as it is currently installed.
Thank you for considering our request.
